Green Energy are an unlicensed energy supplier committed to supplying electricity sourced from power sources that specifically exclude fossil and nuclear.
They are a fairly small scale supplier and buy surplus power from such sources as Photovoltaic (Solar panels) biomass, wind and hydro.
They have hydro-electric stations in the Derbyshire Peak District and Cumbria, wind turbines in Hertfordshire, Pembrokeshire and the Isle of Gigha, A Biomass station in Yorkshire, combined heat and power from a tomato growing plant in Hertfordshire and even buy surplus solar energy from a Go-Kart track in East London.
Their corporate strategy is based on the need to find non-polluting and non-carbon emitting energy to mitigate the effect of global warming, which their corporate key message describes as “The greatest threat to the long-term survival of our planet”.
Because they are an unlicensed supplier they sell their energy through a company called Opus energy ltd and the National Grid. They are also keen to buy in any surplus capacity from micro-generators such as small scale solar and wind installations, such as the ones that you can now buy to install in your home.
They have committed to offer the opportunity to buy shares to the first 100,000 customers who sign up with them and will enclose the necessary papers with any new contract until the quota is reached.
They are in business to make a profit but have stated that 50% of all profits are to be reinvested in developing sustainable and renewable energy sources.
