Npower are a power marketing company that promises to cut your bills.  They have a poor reputation for hard doorstep selling and have been the subject of several trading standards complaints. Their hard sell approach is that they guarantee to save you money but there have many reported cases of people being coerced into signing up to switch to them as the main supplier of power to the household without understanding what they are signing.

They are, like most other energy supply companies keen to promote energy saving and have a large section on their website offering advice and links to various techniques and schemes for subsidising home insulation.

As with all the other energy suppliers they have a great interest in promoting renewable and green energy.  They have a partnership with a company called Ecofirst, who supply solar panels or, as they are more correctly known, Photovoltaic cells, which generate power from sunlight.
If you have one of these you can sell any surplus power back to the grid and draw from it when your demand exceeds what the panel delivers.  You can save up to 60% on your household electricity bill in this way.  They also offer a scheme called Npower Juice, which offers to supply green energy at no extra cost.

There is also an offshore wind farm at North Hoyle where 30 wind turbines are generating 60 Megawatts wind can provide power to 40,000 average homes.

They also operate eighteen on-shore wind farms.
