Swalec were originally the South Wales Electricity Board.  Since de-regulation they have been part of the Scottish and Southern Energy group.

Swalec have published a Domestic Energy Customer Charter that promises, amonst other things, that they will look after your interests, make it easy to sort out any problems by letting you speak to somebody in the UK, check your account each year and check that you are charged correctly for the energy used.
In addition they promise to look after their most vulnerable customers, help all they can if you have problems paying and to respect your decision if you decide to leave them for another supplier.

They offer a variety of tariffs, some of which include the option to save loyalty points that can be redeemed for discounts wide a range of high street retailers, Air Miles and charity donations, enjoy dual fuel discounts and subscribe to green energy supplies.

You can obtain energy saving advice, arrange for home alarm systems and telephony services through this one supplier.  A green energy option is offered whereby you can receive help to reduce your energy consumption and use energy that has been generated from renewable sources.  As they are part of the giant Scottish and Southern Energy Group, who are a FTSE 100 company, they can offer tariffs that benefit from their economy of scale.

Another offer that might be of interest to consumers is their offer to fix prices for all of the year 2008.
