Are Dimmer Switches Really Saving People Money on Energy Bills?

People are buying energy-efficient light bulbs and even installing more insulation in their homes for the upcoming winter. However, there is one thing that people have been doing that may or may not work, and this is installing dimmer switches in their homes.
Now the idea is that a dimmer switch would help people save money because they are able to control how bright the light is. One would think that by making light dimmer it is using less energy, thus, cutting down on power bills. However, this may not be the case.
Now people have been hearing different things about these dimmer switches. Some say that the lights still use the same amount of power despite the fact that they are dimmed down. The idea here is that the dimmer only restricts the power going to the bulb and the rest of the energy is given off as heat.
So do these switches work? Well the truth of the matter is that it doesn’t really matter. When it comes down to it, using a dimmer switch is not going to save someone enough money for it to really matter. Overall, it is still better to use an eco light bulb for the house.
However, it is important to note that they do make eco dimming light bulbs. This kind of gives people the best of both worlds. The main problem is that these kinds of bulbs are still very expensive. Overtime they will save people money, but the start-up cost is a little high for some people.
