It seems that just recently a car manufacturer and a tyre maker have teamed up to try and encourage drivers to make more energy efficient choices when it comes to driving their vehicles. They want to remind people that being energy efficient does not just stop in the home; it has to be carried to the road as well.

Renault and Michelin are now encouraging car users to check their tyre pressure. This is not only for safety reasons but because it could make their cars more fuel efficient. This would, of course, help to lower carbon emissions.

Thus, the companies are currently offering free digital pressure gauges to people who purchase two Michelin fuel efficient tyres from their Renault dealer in May and June. This is a great deal for people who are already thinking about buying fuel efficient tyers.

A product manager at Renault UK Limited, Roger Loderick, said that keeping tyers at the correct pressure and using energy efficient tyres can reduce the amount of work that the car’s engine has to do. This, in turn, reduces carbon dioxide emissions. With drivers keeping a keen eye on the cost of motoring, a free digital typre pressure gauge could make a world of difference.

According to the automotive companies, under inflating tyres by just seven psi could mean that the car is using an extra tank of fuel over the course of a year. Thus, if everyone just fully inflates their tyres, the world can save on a lot of fuel. This is just a small thing that people can do to, not only save on gas, but to lower their carbon footprint.
