Annually held in Las Vegas, electronic companies gather at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), owned and organized by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), to display their hottest innovative products.

This year, even with the recent economic turmoil, key industry players put forward many innovative developments to old technologies. There were about 2,500 technology companies who showcased roughly 20,000 new technology products at this year’s show.

The recent gathering, which is the biggest tradeshow in the world for end user technology, took a new record of 330 new exhibitors, with new innovative products unveiled – including mobile DTV, 3D TV, apps and tablets.

On the recently held CES, the new Sony DSX-S100 in car radio set has also presented an inventive solution in pairing favourite Personal Music Players (PMP) to a car stereo. TuneTray, its added feature, can enable users to connect PMPs to the car’s entertainment centre via a USB.

In a statement, Sony is promising compatibility to all PMPs – from Zunes to iPhones. The company however suggests that users should test first their MP3s whether they work well with the radio. The Sony stereo set is available for acquisition initially in the US for $150 and will soon be marketed worldwide.

Meanwhile according to the bi-annual CEA industry forecasts, the consumer electronics industry is estimated to profit over $165 billion in shipment revenues this year. Smartphones will still remain as the industry’s main revenue driver, with almost $17 billion in shipment revenues and over 52 million units sold in 2010.
