Cutting Emissions Could Have Positive Effects of Health
Posted on: November 26th, 2009 by Emma YoungIt now seems that some experts are claiming that cutting down on carbon emissions could have a positive affect on health. One such expert, Andy Burnham, the health secretary, said recently that rising temperatures will affect the public.
The Lancet study, which was published just before UN talks on climate change, calls on health ministers and professionals around the world to see the danger of global warming and what it means for the health of people. Cutting emissions is no longer just good for the health of the planet but for the health of the people living on the planet. However, this is a matter that a lot of people fail to see.
The study goes on to say that, by simply cutting carbon emissions, two issues could be tackled with one stone. These studies suggest that cutting emissions will have a positive impact on the health of people due to the fact that urban air pollution will come down. Air pollution has been linked back to heart and breathing problems. Also, by better insulating houses, more deaths could be prevented from both extreme cold and hot weather. Of course, insulating a house also has a positive affect on the environment, because less energy can escape the house in the form of cold and warm air.
Andy Burnham said that health ministers from around the world must come together and highlight the risks that global warming puts on public health. In order to protect public health, people have to work on cutting down climate change. This will limit temperature increases and, thus, help keep people healthy and happy.
