Decision on wind farm gets backing
Posted on: June 11th, 2008 by Emma YoungPrior to a public to be held for another wind energy project in a neighbouring area, there have been calls for a decision to be made concerning a planned Northumberland wind farm.
A public inquiry was held in 2007 to look into a decision by npower renewables to put up eighteen wind energy turbines with a height of one hundred and twenty five metres in North Charlton close to Alnwick.
The planning inspector who was conducting the inquiry which ran for twenty one days and which was held at Alnwicks Northumberland Hall has filed his recommendations with the Secretary of State who is expected to make the final decision.
Now Save Northumberlands Environment group which was in opposition to the
Middlemoor application at the public inquiry, is calling for the announcement to be made prior to the public hearing for planned wind energy turbine project at the neighbouring Wandylaw.
Ridgewind Ltd was denied the license by Berwick Borough Council to set up ten wind energy turbines at the site close to Chathill last year in October but it sent an appeal shortly afterwards.
Now a public inquiry is scheduled to be held for a period of eight days sometime later this year in September. It is understood that the borough has allocated one hundred thousand sterling pounds to counter the application.
Since the project is situated close to the Middlemoor and Wandylaw sites, SANE is advocating for the announcement to be made prior to the beginning of the hearing of the wind farm project.
