Homeowners could be looking at reduced electricity bills in the near feature. British homeowners may be seeing the government’s latest initiative to reduce energy bills. This will be done, hopefully, by actually improving the energy efficiency of existing homes in the country. This would help the UK be able to use less energy and would mean that the UK would have to come up with less renewable energy.

Right now the Great British Refurb has a proposal to increase the amount of mircrogeneration installed on homes across Britain. The Department of Energy and Climate Change says that almost seven million homes would be upgraded before 2020. Then by 2030, they go on to say that all of the British housing stock would be upgraded to more energy efficient methods. This is good, because The Department of Energy and Climate Change says that it would have to be a big change to show any kind of improvement.

Other studies have shown that households are more than willing to work with the government on climate change by making homes more energy efficient. The government says that the more help they can get, the smoother the process would go. The study shows that most households are willing to help, not only because it would help the environment, but in the long run, it would save them a lot of money on their energy bills.

Although this is a small step for the UK government in trying to handle the energy crisis that is on its way for the UK, it is a step in the right direction. Other projects like this will have to get underway.
