Elektromotive To Run Test Trials for Mercedes-Benz

Posted on: October 12th, 2009 by Emma Young

Elektromotive, a UK based electric vehicle recharging station manufacturer, has been selected to be one of the trail companies for a new electric system replicating a smart for two. Elektromotive will be collecting research data for Mercedes-Benz, which manufacturers smart vehicles, in real-life situations.

Elektromotive has already completed and begun delivery on their own electric smart and during the course of the next four years will be reporting to Mercedes on the battery’s performance. The data will then be analysed as the company moves forward with production of smart electric drive for 2010.

The trial study is also being conducted as part of Elektromotive’s development and research programme which is currently aiming to develop a new EV charging station which could be installed on roadsides, parking lots, homes, or businesses.

Elektromotive also manufacturers the Elektrobay charging station which can already be seen across London and other UK cities. The charging station is fully compatible with all currently manufactured electric vehicles and plug-in electric hybrids. So far its easy use system has already become very popular with EV owners causing most stations to be constantly in use, and a demand for subsequent installations on UK streets.

Representatives for both companies have said that the smart vehicles will be an asset to further reducing emissions in the UK in order to meet new regulation aims to reduce UK emissions by 2020. Mercedes-Benz Managing Director for the UK branch, said that the smart electric drive is important to the company’s commitment to producing sustainable modes of transport.
