Energy Saving Trust conducted a survey on more than 1,500 Britons to find out what they feel should be done to cut down on waste and to save energy. Seven out of ten people agreed that certain actions must be done to cut down on waste. These people even suggested “war time” tactics.

Out of the 1,500 people that took part in the survey, Energy Saving Trust found that 69 percent of people wanted a cooperative community approach to handling energy and resources. On top of that, 59 percent of people thought that measurements that are taken during war time should be used in order to stop the excess use of water and energy. Some measurements taken during war time in the UK include rationing out daily allowances of water.

Energy Saving Trust did make note that they are not advocating in any way that the government should return to rationing out resources to people. However, they do agree that adopting some of the same practices that are used during war time could help to save energy and reduce the overall carbon footprint left by the UK.

Some practices that were suggested as good ways to save energy would be watering plants with recycled bath water. Energy Saving Trust believes these are the types of practices that local communities need to adopt.

Eighty-two percent of people that took place in the survey that was conducted by Energy Saying Trust admitted that they are people who eat leftovers for meals the next day. These are the same people who also repair their own clothing to avoid buying new ones, which all helps with the saving of energy on a national level.
