The Environment Agency has now advised the UK to come up with a more energy efficient way to make sure that the nation has a better climate for the future. These words came after the organization looked over the UK’s Climate Projections report. This report showed that places like London could be looking at being up to six degrees hotter on average by the time that 2080 rolled around. The findings also go on to suggest that every single part of the UK will become wetter in the winter and a lot warmer in the summer.

The chairman of the Environment Agency, Lord Chris Smith, said that the UK has the opportunity to become the world’s leader in low carbon energy and technology. Not only will this help in the fight to prevent climate change, but it will also help in creating jobs. He went on to say that fighting climate change has to be the way forward for the economy after this huge recession. He noted that the UK will not be able to return to the “profit at any cost” approach that has messed up the environment in the first place.

However, the agency did note that this is not something that the government can do alone. This report shows that, not only the government, but businesses, as well as the public sector, have to work together in order to improve the efficiency in which the UK uses energy.

Of course, the government is already underway with coming up with a five point action plan that is suppose to help curb the impact of climate change in the UK.
