EON Offers Free Insulation to Low Income Families

This could turn out to be a cold winter. There are some families that are scared they are not going to be able to pay their power bill. That being said, it would appear that EON is looking forward to helping such families. New reports show that this energy provider is looking forward to offering low-income families and pensioners free insulation, and £100 off energy bills.
In order to qualify for this offer, EON says a family has to have an income lower than £16,190. They also have to be the recipient of the Child Tax Credit or claim the state Pension Credit. The good news is that this deal is open to everyone. This means, that people do not have to be an EON consumer to take part in this offer.
Alright, so now a lot of people are thinking, “What’s the catch?” The good news is, there is not one. Of course, EON does have their own reasons for offering this deal. Pretty much, the company is required to help reduce the amount of CO2 emitted by households under the government-backed scheme called the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target. Thus, EON is required to make such offers to help reduce CO2. The real winner here are the families that qualify for this free aid.
Peter Moorey, who is the energy campaign manager for Which?, said that their affordable energy campaign has been calling on all energy providers to do more to get insulation out to hard-pressed customers this winner. Thus, this is a very welcome scheme. The offer of an extra £100 on top of the already free insulation just makes this an even more attractive deal.
Of course, there is another question that people want answered: Why is the company offering free money on top of the free insulation? Well, in order for EON to prove that they are doing what they can to reduce CO2 emitted from houses, they have to have people sign up for this deal. Sometimes, free insulation is not enough to get people to act. The free money on top of the insulation can give families who are unsure about the offer that little extra push that they need.
Do keep in mind that not all households are eligible for this deal. Flats, maisonettes, housing associations or council tenants, and homes that already have more than 160mm of loft insulation do not qualify. Each house is of course subject to a survey before qualifying for the aid.
