Europcar Take Steps to Become More Environmentally Friendly
Posted on: July 23rd, 2009 by Samantha DonovanEuropcar’s Australian based outlets will be gaining a new addition to their line of available cars for hire.
The environmentally conscious Hyundai i30 is a five door mid-size sedan which runs on a 2.0 litre petrol tank. The Hyundai i30 is one of the most economical cars currently on the market, and at an expulsion rate of only 182 grams of carbon per kilometer it is also a much “greener” alternative to other mid range vehicles.
“The Hyundai i30 complements our existing fleet well. Our customers have become more environmentally conscious and this has created an increase in demand for more environmentally friendly vehicles like the Hyundai i30. It has a good record in reliability and safety and is also roomy and comfortable,” said Ashley Jurberg, Europcar’s marketing manager for Australia.
Europcar is known for their efforts to protect the environment having previously entered into a partnership with Greenfleet, a not for profit environmental group. Each time the company adds a new car to its ranks, 17 trees are planted as part of a carbon neutralization project.
Europcar is also expected to be the first to offer electric car hire as early as next year. The cars will be offered by the company in New Zealand and Australia and supplied by Japanese car manufacturer, Nissan.
