According to a report by the European Commission, the UK is one of the best in Europe in terms of energy efficiency. The report even shows that energy used in the UK fell by more than 5 percent from the years 2000 to 2008. This proves that the UK is doing whatever it can to lower its energy usage.

The report shows that the UK was the only major European economy that was able to see a drop in its energy usage. Germany was able to do pretty good by not allowing its energy usage to rise over these same years. However, France saw a rise of 7 percent. When all the stats were looked at as a whole, energy usage in the whole European Union rose by about 4 percent.

According to the European Commission, Britain scored really well on energy intensity. For those that do not know, energy intensity is a measure of how much power is used to generate every euro worth of economic output.

The European Union’s energy commissioner, Gunther Uettinger, said that he is going to call on governments all over the European Union to take action to meet the European Union’s goals on improving energy efficiency by 20 percent by 2020. He would love for countries to either meet this requirement or improve on it if possible.

The real question is if the European Union will be able to reach their goals or not. Overall, it would be great if countries could band together to make these goals work. Experts say that it will, not only be good for the environment, but it will be good for the economy as well since it would help to create jobs.
