Go green, within a certain date
Posted on: December 21st, 2007 by adminAs part of their corporate social responsibility drive, the National Grid has launched the going green project in their first report. The report states they are working on reducing the green house gas emissions by about 60% within 2050. This is all part of their initiative to battle the global climatic changes. Till date, the national Grid company has saved over 26 billion kilo watt hours of power using their increasing energy efficiency programs. In an attempt to increase use of renewable energy , they are working on this drive to bring about 100% use of this form of energy in another couple of years, maybe by 2010. Even though their headquarters is in USA they are working hard in UK as there is a severe shortage of power and high reliability on fossil fuels and nuclear power, which will affect the global climate further.
Ever since the National grid came into being, which was nearly 20years ago, they have worked hard at conserving energy and increasing “go green” concept. In the report submitted on Monday, the team at National grid have said they are confident in creating a turn around in the eco system. They are also talking about reducing the amount of electricity used by every household and preserving some of it for future use. The National grid is almost the sole supplier of electricity to nearly 3 million plus customers and they also distribute natural gas to about 3.5million users on a yearly basis across USA and UK.
