Gordon Brown Works With Eden to Make 10,000 New Low Carbon Jobs
Posted on: September 30th, 2009 by Jason DrewIn his speech at the Labour Party’s annual conference, Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that 10,000 green job placements would be created in conjunction with Cornwall’s Eden Project and other similar organisations.
The Prime Minister told the Labour Party that by working with organisations such as Eden the UK government would be able to boost the country’s green economy. Mr. Brown told the conference that the main goal will be to create new jobs, and the largest amount of green job placements ever created in the UK.
The Eden Project will be receiving several of those job placements, and the project said that it would be a good opportunity to have a real impact on the industry.
During the keynote speech the Prime Minister delivered at the Labour Party’s conference in Brighton, he said Cornwall will be playing a significant role in current plans to jump start the green economy.
Mayday Network will also be working in conjunction with the UK government to create job placements for the green economy. It is anticipated that up to 10,000 new jobs will be offered to young people who need work and desire to make an impact working in low carbon economy job placements.
Gaynor Coley, managing director at Eden, said the project will attempt to even go past the 10,000 jobs if possible, offering more work to willing young individuals. She said that the need for green jobs is urgent and can no longer wait, but must be acted upon immediately.
