Homeowners with Energy Efficient Boilers Could See Cheaper Gas Bills
Posted on: May 13th, 2010 by Justin BecksIt now appears that cheap gas bills may just be one of the many benefits homeowners could have for switching over to a more energy efficient boiler. The recent boiler scrappage scheme has been described as being really successful. For those that do not remember, the boiler scarppage scheme was the scheme where Brits were able to get a discount on a new, more energy efficient boiler in place of their old ones.
The director of the National Home Improvement Council, Andrew Leech, said that he thought the scheme should be extended and encouraged to be taken up across the UK. With a new boiler working more effectively, homeowners could find cheap gas bills soon land on their doorsteps. Mr Leech went on to say that people need to change their boilers if they are more than 15 to 20 years old. This is because their boilers would be old and decrepit. He also added that he thought boiler manufacturers had been very pleased with the response of the scrappage scheme as well.
The Energy Saving Trust said that, by March 26th, 125,000 vouchers had been claimed for new boilers. These vouchers were worth £400. It should come as no shock to people to see the UK pushing for this scheme. Right now the UK is doing what it can to make the homes and businesses within its boarders more energy efficient. In order for the UK to even have a chance to reach its carbon emissions goals, it has to get its citizens to switch over to an energy efficient lifestyle. The best way to do that is to get homeowners to switch out some of their old boilers with new energy efficient ones.
