Hundreds of households affected by power cuts

A power cut affected hundreds of households and business organisations in Dallington. Some of the areas affected include the East Street area of the village. The power cut also affected Dallington Primary School and this forced the students to be sent home since learning could not continue. Another institution of learning that was affected was the Daisy Chain Nursery.

An EDF Energy spokesperson explained that the power cut was caused by a fault on the overhead electricity network and this caused an interruption in the electricity supply to approximately four hundred consumers in the East Street area of Dallington. The EDF energy spokesperson added that the company’s engineers had been able to redirect the supply of electricity which ensured that the electricity supply was resumed to most of the consumers some hours later.

Yet another power cut still on the EDF Energy network affected approximately three thousand households in Isleham, Mildenhall and Soham. Power supply was restored some hours later after engineers were dispatched to rectify the problem.

Meanwhile an electricity outage caused a lot of inconvenience to hundreds of shoppers at the Tesco Extra store on the Broadfields Industrial Estate. However it could not be immediately established what the cause of the power cut was at the largest and most popular retail outlet in vale. Due to the darkness that resulted from the power outage the shoppers had to feel their war around the store. While some chose to leave, others had to wait for the restoration of electricity supply.
