According to recent reports, investments in sustainable energy, also known as renewable energy, has rose by almost a third in the first quarter of 2010 when compared to the same time last year. This news comes from the New Energy Finance report, which is a global study of financial investments in the development of clean and renewable energy sources.
Figures from the company showed that a total of $27.3 billion was invested in wind farms, biofuel plants, solar parks, and other initiatives between January and March. Of course, in Europe, spending and investments in these projects stood at $7.6 billion in the first three months of the year.
The chief executive of the New Energy Finance, Michael Liebreich, said that they will stick to their forecast that 2010 will see record overall new investments in clean energy. He went on to say that they expect the year’s total to end up between $175 billion to $200 billion compared to last years $162 billion. He said that the next quarter should be interesting. There is a strong pipeline of potential IPO activity.
Right now all areas of the world are hard at work trying to find ways that they can lower their carbon emissions. In fact, many countries have set goals for themselves, some much more ambitious than others. Experts say that all countries are going to have to pull together to make a change in the world. If everyone does not step up and do their part, then nothing is going to change. Everyone lives here and everyone should do their part to keep the planet healthy
