Liverpool to Host Offshore Wind Conference

Posted on: May 19th, 2010 by Tessa Clarke

According to reports, Liverpool will soon be hosting a conference on renewable energy and wind farms. Sources say that this conference should be taking place next month.

The green energy organization Renewable UK, which was formerly known as the British Wind Energy Association, is holding its annual wind energy conference in Liverpool. They say that the conference will take place on June 29th and 30th. This event, which is in its ninth year, will focus on the development of offshore wind energy. It will feature delegates, including senior government officials, manufacturers and investors.

It is said that more than 1,000 people are going to be attending this conference. Renewable UK said that the conference will be held at the Liverpool’s Arena and Convention Center. According to experts, Britain has some of the most successful wind farm developments in the whole world. Thus, the country is very keen at the thought of emerging as a global leader in this field.

Right now it is expected that more than 20,000MW of energy from offshore wind farms will be produced in the country by the end of the decade. Renewable UK believes that each megawatt of energy produced by wind could power approximately 640 homes.

If the UK is able to continue to build up its wind farms, then soon tons of homes across the whole country can be running on wind power alone. That is why this is viewed as a very important conference. The goal of this conference will be to get more people interested in investing in wind power and raise awareness of all that wind power is able to do for the UK.
