Mondial Assistance penetrates EV industry through Mitsubishi Motors

Posted on: January 27th, 2010 by Tessa Clarke

Mitsubishi Motors recently chosen Mondial Assistance to support the company’s launch of its award winning, fully electric-powered city car, the i MiEV.

The pioneering car will be available in the country on 12 December. Under the new agreement, car owners will get assistance from i MiEV technicians to be supplied by Mondial Assistance. The service is made possible due to Mondial’s long-standing relationship with the automaker through its Mitsubishi Assistance Package (MAP), a programme which enables the car manufacturer to extend its knowledge into the EV industry.

The electric car has been a hot seller since its launch in Japan. Mitsubishi will commence i MiEV production this October in Europe, with the left hand drive model to be offered by the end of this year. The UK launch is forecasting 25 i MiEVs to be hitting the UK roads.

The i MiEV is said to be the world’s first electric city car with zero tailpipe emissions. The electric car has a four-passenger seating capacity and a room for luggage. It has a top speed of 81 mph and can be fully charged in six hours by using any three-pinned socket.

Demonstrating the importance of the electric car’s launch in the UK, i MiEV is currently taking part on the recently implemented government project, Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator, which is organized by the Technology Strategy Board. The project is part of West Midland’s initiative to show to the UK public that electric vehicles are convenient and easy to use.
