MP in wind farm controversy
Posted on: June 14th, 2008 by Jenson BrayshawDavid Maclean a Member of Parliament has come out publicly to say that his constituents were getting worthless wind farm proposals now almost on a monthly basis. He said this prior to a public consultative meeting on a proposal to develop 3 huge wind turbines close to Cumwhinton.
The locals who have organised themselves into an action group which will opposethe Newlands wind farm plans, want to know what the rest of the community thinks before an application for planning is submitted to the relevant authorities.
The Member of Parliament for Penrith, David Maclean has openly shown his support for the action group. The Member of Parliament has also disclosed that he is sick to the stomach about the numerous renewable energy firms that keep coming to the area with proposals for wind farms.
The Member of Parliament argued that the wind farms were useless because during the big electricity outages some weeks ago, none of the wind farms were able to make a difference by meeting the countrys power requirements.
The Member of Parliament lambasted wind farms and accused them of causing destruction to the environment while not being able to supply the country with the power that it required. He added that the wind farms were just a waste of tax payers money and actually a rip-off since they usually get subsidies from the government.
David Maclean vowed to give his backing to any other action group that would be created to object to another wind farm intending to be developed in Cumbria.
