Apparently the National Home Improvement Council has now raised some new concerns regarding home energy efficiency. The director of the council, Andrew Leech, said that many householders are more concerned with home improvements that focus on enhancing a property’s appearance instead of its energy efficiency. This has become a bigger problem now that many people are worrying about global warming.

Leech said that the private householder is a bit reluctant to do anything substantial on the house so far as energy efficiency is concerned. They are more interested in modern bathrooms and modern kitchens. However, they do not bear in mind the energy efficiency aspects that they need to. Any incentive which makes them think about making their own homes more efficient is very worthwhile. Of course, Leech feels that home owners fail to see that.

The director of the council made these comments after the Conservative party announced that it was planning to launch home energy efficiency improvement grants. However, this is something that the party could only do if they were to be elected into power at the next general election.

Under the scheme proposed by the Conservative party, individual properties would benefit from home improvement of up to £6,500. The money would be used to fund the initiative and would be repaid using the money saved from the reduced energy bill. This way all families would be able to save money on their bills and be able to afford the upgrade. The Conservative party has noted that this is one scheme that will actually pay for itself over time.
