Newcastle to get New Energy Efficiency Scheme

Posted on: December 22nd, 2009 by Jason Drew

Apparently in Newcastle, a home energy efficiency scheme is proving to be very popular with people of the region. South Heaton is currently in a fight to transform itself into the most environmentally friendly area of the city. This is going to be done through a new insulation initiative that will be entitled the Newcastle Warm Zone.

With this new scheme, every single household in the district is eligible for free wall insulation and some will also be able to claim free loft insulation. Henri Murison, the South Heaton councilor, said that they have been really lucky that the Warm Zone program has been able to make staff and resources available to see if they can get every house eligible for the free measures of insulation. Overall, adding this new insulation can really help save on heating and cooling costs and, thus, save every household money.

He went on to say, as part of the launching of this plan to tackle climate change, they have been out chatting with people to see if they might benefit from this program. They have also been carrying out some more detailed surveys.

This new scheme will see councilors from the local authority and workers from the local green initiative carry out door to door services to promote the program. According to Newcastle Warm Zone, the service can help people slash their energy bills, as well as lower their carbon footprint. This is good news for the UK, which is doing all it can to cut its carbon emissions to meet their short term goals. This can only be done if people and businesses work together.
