It now seems that the next UN climate meeting, which will take place in December, will now call for greenhouse gas emissions to be halved by 2020. This was a report that was confirmed at a people’s conference on climate change in Bolivia on April 22nd. This meeting took place just ahead of this year’s meeting in Mexico.

During this conference in Cochabamba, it was also agreed on that many polluting countries should listen more to other voices. This is something that is important to the health of the earth as a whole.

The 50 percent reduction in emissions is far more ambitious than the seven to 16 percent that was talked about in Copenhagen. Also the president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, said that richer countries need to pay more attention to developing ones. He went on to say that developed countries, have got to listen to the people. They have to make decisions to better the lives of everyone. Not all countries have the power to do this, but the ones that do, need to do it.

The next UN climate change conference will be taking place in the Mexican city of Cancun between November 29th and December 10th. This will be a very big conference that will put very ambitious plans into action.

Many environment experts have expressed how happy they are with the news of the very ambitious plans that will be talked about at the next climate meeting. They go on to say that they said from the beginning that the first conference’s goals were not ambitious enough. It now seems that others are starting to see this too.
