OriginOil Inc Will Patent Unique Oil Removal Process
Posted on: July 30th, 2009 by Beth WilliamsOriginOil Inc. has just announced that they are capable of extra algae oil on a constant basis without forfeiting any cells. The new process could join its larger Cascading Production technique program to revolutionise alternative fuel production.
Algae protect their natural oils beneath a impenetrable cell wall making it difficult to extract the oil without damaging the algae’s protective outer layer. OriginOil however has found a way to extract the oil without harming the outer cell wall.
The company’s Live Extraction process involves “milking” the oil, which will allow for continuous production of the algae oil without ever harming the protective cell wall. By not damaging the cell wall, the company ensures that a single algae cell can than continue to produce oil constantly. This constant renewal process makes oil harvest from algae more economical and efficient.
So far experiments have been successful on a small scale level. The company will now attempt to move these efforts to a large scale harvesting tank which can hold 200 gallons of oil.
In the wake of this new success OriginOil Inc. has filed for a patent to protect their “Live Extraction” process. This will be their ninth patent and is titled ““Procedure for Extraction of Lipids from Algae without Cell Sacrifice.”
