Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicles to Become Commonplace on Roadways

Companies producing such cars receive considerable government incentives as the demand for “green alternatives” increases. The cleantech market research firm predicts that due to demand and incentives more than 1.7 million of these types of cars will be on the roads by 2015.
Prototypes for the vehicles are now limited to small economy sized cars, but are expected to expand to include small SUVs after hitting mainstream markets in 2015. Toyota and Ford are expected to be the leading manufacturers of these vehicles accounting for one half of all production.
According to a new study conducted by Pike Research the United States will head the market over the next five years. Selling over 610,000 vehicles in the five year period following the release of these vehicles. Pike Research’s report, “Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles”, focuses on the emerging market for these vehicles and forecasts market outcomes for the next five years.
