QHotels Scores ‘Green’ On All 21 Facilities
Posted on: August 12th, 2009 by Beth WilliamsQHotels recently announced that all 21 of their hotels in the UK received at least a bronze accreditation from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS). The company is also the AA Hotel Group of the Year.
GTBS awards hotels a bronze, silver, or gold ranking based on a strict criteria which measures energy and water efficiency, waste management, and environmental impact, among other things. GTBS is the foremost green tourism certification assessor in the UK.
QHotels has managed to bring all 21 of its properties up to the GTBS bronze standard in just three months. Additionally, these facilities; Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort, Crewe Hall, Nottingham Belfry, Norton Park, The Cheltenham Chase Hotel, The Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort, The Cambridge Belfry, The Hampshire Court Hotel and Ashford International Hotel, all scoring a silver in rating.
Out of the above hotels, Ashford International scored the highest, and an additional two of the facilities were less than 5% from ranking as a gold on the scale.
Vivien Sirotkin, Director of Hotel Operations at QHotels stated that, “we are very proud of this achievement, as it follows the implementation of our new CSR policy this year, and especially pleased with the short time frame in which these excellent standards were achieved by our Green Champions and hotel staff.”
QHotels is also currently developing a company wide policy which would further decrease their carbon footprint, as well as developing a company nominated charity to begin in 2010.
