Scottish Government Puts Forth £15 Million Energy Efficiency Scheme

Posted on: August 3rd, 2009 by Jenson Brayshaw

It is no shock that every place around the world is trying their best to make everything more energy efficient - not only to save people money, but to help deal with the energy crisis that is creeping up on many nations as we all run low on natural resources. To show that Scotland is also doing its part, the Scottish government is now investing close to £15 million in a new energy efficiency scheme. This scheme calls to make nearly 100,000 homes more energy efficient.

According to Scottish government authorities, homeowners all over the country will be able to access free or at least discounted loft insulation. On top of this, they will also be able to get free energy audits and more information on the best ways to save on energy.

Of course, this plan does not just help with energy problems, it also helps with the economy. The scheme will help to create 900 jobs, including positions for energy advisers and, of course, insulation installers.

The Scottish housing and communities minister, Alex Neil, said that making Scotland homes better insulated will be a key point to achieving their ambitious climate change targets. He goes on to say that, by offering homeowners help in making their homes more energy efficient, more people will be willing to take part in the help to save the planet. After all, many experts have said that the government cannot do this alone. To change the planet for the better, everyone is going to have to their part. This includes both homeowners and companies.
