Solar energy for more electricity

Posted on: December 21st, 2007 by admin

In Germany, the Berlin Green energy law has resulted in increased used of solar power to conserve energy and increase availability of electricity. They have also worked on reduction of the carbon emission into the atmosphere and helped thousands of people earn new jobs in the manufacturing industry to create solar panels to power homes and offices. The German government made sure that the National Grid adhered to the rules laid down by them to buy back the surplus electricity produced across the homes in the country using these solar panels. A complete contrast to that of Britain, where the companies refused to buy back the surplus electricity or when they did eventually accept, they were ready to buy them at half the price. This dint help the economy nor the people in motivating them to using these solar powered panels to generate their daily requirement of electricity.

The past couple of years saw the government spending nearly 25 billion pounds in subsidizing nuclear power and this has been used in turn to put in place solar panels across the nation. However, the only sad part is that the new labor doesn’t seem to be doing much in controlling green house gas emission. If in Britain too, the government was to step in and support the Solar industry  just like in Germany, they might be able to give new lease of life, through jobs to over 300,000 people in this sector. This would mean reduction in number of people unemployed
