SolFocus Inc. to Supply Photovoltaic Panels to GreenWing

Posted on: July 29th, 2009 by Justin Becks

SolFocus Inc.will team up with GreenWing Energy Management Ltd to provide high concentration photovoltaic solar panels for GreenWing’s ongoing solar projects in the United States. SolFocus Inc. will install their systems in both GreenWing’s newer utility projects as well as their large-scale generator applications.

The SolFocus CPV’s systems utilise small, highly efficient solar cells which reflect 605 times of sunlight via unique patented reflective optics.

Despite these new endeavors in solar power, GreenWing commented that it would also continue its ongoing efforts to develop wind energy.  GreenWing currently has several wind energy projects ongoing in the United States and Canada.

“This agreement clearly illustrates GreenWing’s commitment to PV technology and the significant environmental and economic benefits that it presents. GreenWing is confident that the energy conversion efficiencies and modest environmental impacts of the SolFocus technology will represent a competitive advantage for GreenWing in providing our customers with a reliable and cost-competitive renewable energy product for many years to come,” said Dan Allard, the CEO for GreenWing Energy Management Ltd.

The SolFocus CPV’s uniquely developed system can capture sunlight up to 650 times by using innovative reflective optics to concentrate the sun’s intensity into tiny, yet extremely efficient solar cells. The SolFocus 1100S system requires much less active solar cell material than other photovoltaic panels currently on the market making it a more attractive alternative economically.
