Stadler unveils four Audi cars for 2010

Posted on: December 2nd, 2009 by Beth Williams

Audi will introduce four new vehicles in 2010, plus green upgrades to other car models.

Next year, the automaker will put in fuel and environmental enhancements to several of its Audi car models, including the installation of a stop-start technology that could lessen carbon emissions. But when interviewed by What Car?, Audi boss Rupert Stadler said that he only wanted the car manufacturer to be known for its ‘progress through technology’ motto and not essentially as a green brand.

Following to its launch in Miami this week, Stadler informed that the first of its fresh vehicles to be sold in the market by early 2010 will be the Audi A8. A major improvement on the car is the reduced fuel economy of 21 per cent.

Meanwhile, the production of Audi A1’s super-mini version will commence in the next couple of months, with the vehicle due to be on sale in the UK market in September 2010. Stadler claimed that the A1 is different from rival cars in terms of design, quality, touch and style. The price for the A1’s super-mini model will be very close to the original A1 car at around £13,000.

Moreover, the new A6 car model, which will compete with BMW’s 5 Series, will be available by the end of 2009. The new A6 will share many of its features with the planned Audi A7 model.

The automaker also plans to develop a five-door Audi A7 Sportback car, which is expected to be launched in the summer, based on the A6 model. Stadler informed that the A7’s price would start around £28,000.
