Terra Firma Acquires EverPower Wind Holdings

Posted on: August 27th, 2009 by Jenson Brayshaw

Terra Firma Capital, a renewable energy investment firm, has just acquired EverPower Wind Holdings, a subsidiary of U.S. wind farm developer Good Energies and management company EverPower.

The newly acquired company, EverPower Wind Holdings, has development projects totaling more than 1500 MW in wind energy production currently in the works. The projects, spread over seven U.S. states, have been under development by the company, which was founded in 2002.

The wind energy company is expected to use the new rise in funding to refinance an existing loan, as well as expand their pipeline currently being developed.

Good Energies, headquartered in Switzerland, specializes as an investor in renewable energy worldwide. The company is privately funded by one family, the Brenninkmeijers. The investment firm had previously invested $55 million in EverPower back in 2007.

Terra Firma has been expanding their investment base in renewables since 1994. To date the company has invested a total of  €11 billion ($15.7 billion), mostly in Europe.

“We see significant investment potential in the fast growing U.S. renewable energy market, and EverPower has both a strong management team and an attractive portfolio of projects,” said Guy Hands, Chairman of Terra Firma.

Further details about the deal, including financials and dates, have not been released.
