Toyota Production Plant Building Hybrid Cars in the UK
Posted on: June 9th, 2010 by Jenson BrayshawIt now appears that Toyota is building a new line of Auris Hybrid cars. According to reports these new cars are going to be made right in Burnaston, Derbyshire. This decision has been hailed by Toyota as a tremendous vote of confidence in British car manufacturing. It has also been noted as a big boost in confidence for the UK department for the company, Toyota Manufacturing UK.
According to Toyota, Toyota Manufacturing UK was chosen to build this new series of cars mostly because they are already building petrol and diesel powered versions of the same vehicle. Thus, it would stand to reason that this would be the perfect spot to make yet another version of this car.
The deputy managing director of the manufacturer, Tony Walker, said that the Auris Hybrid is very important to Toyota Manufacturing UK. It provides a great opportunity for them to increase production and for Toyota to increase its sales. It is a source of great motivation for everyone in the company as a whole. Walker went on to say that, as the first car in the C segment to benefit from full hybrid technology, this car is helping to lead the move to a low carbon economy in Europe. This is a fight that the UK is already taking part in.
The production of this car is to begin in the Derbyshire town in June. The new model will officially go on sale as of July 1. Thus, this is a car that will be rolled off the line pretty quickly and put into the hands of consumers around the world.
