UK Government Gives £10,000 Loans For Greener Homes

Posted on: August 7th, 2009 by Justin Becks

Homeowners that live in the UK and are looking to reduce their energy bills can now enjoy great government loans of £10,000. These loans are given to home owners that are looking to make their house more “green.” This great loan system comes in at a time when the UK is doing all it can to cut down on its carbon emissions.

The proposal would call for these people to pay back their loans through their council tax bill. The overall idea of the proposal was outlined in a report by the UK Green Building Council. The chief executive of the UK Green Building Council, Paul King, said that the proposal would be able to provide the finance needed to trigger a revolution in household refurbishment.

Paul King went on to note that both the government and opposition have now voiced their support for the principles of a scheme like the one proposed. This is the type of scheme that is needed to help the UK reach its carbon emissions goals. The UK government is expecting to start trialing this new energy saving scheme in hundreds of house around the UK very soon.

Experts say that this kind of scheme could be a big step in the right direction for the UK. Experts say that homeowners are going to have to join the UK race in reducing carbon emissions. The goal to lower the carbon emissions in the UK cannot be done by the government alone. This is a project that has to be tackled by companies and homeowners as well.
