UK Homeowners to Benefit From Solar Panel Giveaway by HomeSun

Posted on: August 11th, 2010 by Justin Becks

Reports are now suggesting that as many as 100,000 homes in the UK could benefit from free solar panels. This is all due to a £1 billion giveaway presented by power company HomeSun. Over the next three years, homeowners will have a chance to increase the value of their home, while at the same time reducing their carbon footprint.

According to figures, some 2,000 homes should receive free installation in the next 12 months. Homeowners will also be able to save around £11,000 on purchasing and installing solar panels. Of course, one of the best things overall is the fact that these homeowners will be generating their own free electricity.

However, there is a catch to this giveaway, and it’s the same catch that some experts have been warning homeowners about. Apparently, in return for HomeSun’s kindness, they will receive the feed in tariffs generated from the energy saving technology.

The chief executive of the company, Daniel Green, said that this giveaway is momentous. He said that this is a rare moment where the government has put it in the manifesto. It comes from the previous government, the liberals are supporting it, and everyone is supporting it. This is one of the few plans that is actually going to work. He finished up by saying that he thinks it is a brilliant way to get people to grid parity where there is no contribution needed by utilities or the government. After all, everyone benefits from solar power.

Although some people think that these free giveaways are a good idea, others beg to differ. Some say that it is more beneficial for homeowners to buy their own solar panels so that they can take advantage of the feed in tariffs.
