According to the financial information website uSwitch.com, the average household energy bill could end up topping over £4,000 a year. This is something that could happen as soon as 2020 if the current trends keep going at the rate that they are going.
The company goes on to say that the average energy bill currently stands at about £1,243 annually. This is double what it was just five years ago. If this keeps up then most customers would be paying about £4,185 by 2020. This is a price that a lot of people would not be able to afford.
Of course, this new data does not take into account the extra outlays for carbon cutting and improved energy efficiency. This may add about £548 a year onto bills. Families that are bigger could be looking at paying even more.
uSwitch.com says that any of the savings that people would be getting from the energy efficiency measurements that they are taking are likely just to cancel themselves out. Of course, Ann Robinson the director of uSwithc.com says that investing in energy efficiency could show some benefits over time.
Ann Robinson went on to say that her advice to customers is to invest in making homes more energy efficient. Try to reduce the amount of energy that you need to use to make your house run. This could help customers out a lot who are looking to pay the lowest possible price. Although big projects can cost a lot of money, like efficient boilers and home insulation, the savings could really add up over time.
