Vestas To Supply 60 Turbines For Wind Project in India
Posted on: September 21st, 2009 by Jason DrewVestas has announced that they received an order from CLP, a long term client, who has wind ventures in both China and Australia, and now plans to expand into the Indian wind energy market. The order is for a wind power project which CLP plans to construct in Theni in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu in the south. According to the order, Vestas will supply 60 V82-1.65 MW turbines for the wind farm.
According to the terms of the agreement, Vestas will supply the turbines, and commission them, as well as maintain a 10-year servicing contract for the 60 units. The turbines are scheduled to be delivered during the last fiscal quarter of 2009 and CLP expects the facility to be commissioned sometime in January 2010.
Vestas Asia Pacific’s President, Sean Sutton said that the deal would be a major step for Vestas in India, and that the company is happy that once again CLP has chosen their turbines for one of their projects.
Vestas has been mobilized in India for over 10 years, and as of this year in June had supplied and installed over 2,100 MW of wind energy in the country. CLP also has a strong presence in India, owning and operating 100 MW of wind energy in India, as well as an additional planned 245 MW of developing projects in the country.
