Views on Energy Efficiency Will Change Thanks to New Green Deal

Posted on: December 21st, 2010 by Emma Young

According to the climate change secretary, Greg Barker, the Green Deal is going to change the way that energy efficiency is viewed. It will do this by placing greater emphasis on energy meters rather than on homeowners.

He went on to say that the scheme is the biggest shake up in the history of energy efficiency. It will reduce energy wastage and save people and businesses a ton of money in the process. On top of this, the Green Deal is going to create jobs, reduce CO2 emissions and even help secure energy supplies for future generations.

Reports show that installers are going to benefit from up to 100,000 jobs created by 2015. These jobs will be created through demand brought on by the Green Deal. Mr Barker said that trist is important when it comes to having work done in home. So consumer protection will be built into the deal from the word “Go!”

The energy and climate secretary, Chris Huhne, said that there will be proper accreditation, a quality mark and insurance backed warranties to prevent against rogue traders. This is not something that the government is going to take lightly. The department wants to make sure that people are protected in their fight to go green.

On top of this, some firms have already expressed their decision to offer a similar kind of scheme ahead of the Green Deal. This would provided an early boost for installers. This would be great for the job market in the UK since many Brits are still having a hard time finding work. The more jobs that are created, the better.
