The brand new BlueMotion edition of the Touareg, made by Volkswagen, now offers lower vehicle carbon emissions, as well as improved fuel efficiency. The BlueMotion has a more efficient engine than that of standard model cars. Volkswagen says the car only produces 219 g/km of emissions as compared to the 225 g/km threshold required for tax breaks. However, the good news does not stop there.
Volkswagen also points out the the Touareg BlueMotion has new low resistance, aerodynamic tires. This model of car is also shorter than the standard model. All of this adds together to reduce fuel consumption and saves the driver money.
Another great feature that Volkswagen talked about is the car’s regenerative braking system that actually charges the battery while the car is moving. This is just yet another feature that takes even more stress off the engine and fuel requirements.
However, the car company did note that despite all of the modifications and the great gains in efficiency, the figures of the BlueMotion are only slightly affected. The car has a top speed of 126 mph and can go from 0 to 62 mph in 8.5 seconds.
As of now, the BlueMotion is Volkswagen’s most environmentally friendly car on the market by far. Some experts do point out that almost every single car manufacturer on the market has some kind of product that is out that is a BlueMotion equivalent. This does include the very popular Polo and Golf Estate.
Volkswagen believes that, to make a difference in the world, all car companies are going to have to start coming out with environmentally friendly cars. However, this is only affective if consumers buy these earth friendly cars.
