Wales to See Cheaper Gas Bills

Posted on: May 24th, 2010 by Lynnette Adamson

According to a new home improvement scheme that will be launched soon, Wales will be looking at cheaper gas bills. These reports state that this new home improvement scheme to be launched is worth about £30 million.

The Welsh Assembly government has revealed its plan to boost the energy efficiency of existing homes in 21 communities. Right now the plan is to boost the energy efficiency of at least 6,000 homes. It is hoped that this new project will be finished by March 2011. This means that cheap gas bills will soon be enjoyed by homeowners all across the country.

Nick Tune, who is the director at the Building Research Establishment Wales, said that this investment by the Welsh Assembly government means that, not only will families have significantly reduced energy bills, but new jobs as well. That is because new jobs will be created for the carbon dioxide reduction industry. Thus, this scheme really is a win win for everyone.

The Scottish government recently announced that, starting May 24th of this year, households will be able to apply for the boiler scrappage scheme to buy a more efficient device. Up to 5,000 households in Scotland will get £400 to put towards the cost of a greener boilers. As many people already know, this is a scheme that has been used in other areas already and has been very effective. It is the hope that this scheme will do just as good in Scotland. A recent survey even suggested that the local residents were very excited about this new scheme, which is already good news.
