Wave Conversion Training to Take Place In South Africa
Posted on: July 24th, 2009 by Lynnette AdamsonThursday September 17, 2009 Dr Joao Cruz, Head of Garrad Hassan’s Wave Energy team will conduct a training session on the conversion of wave energy to energy.
The course will be held at the Skilpadvlei Conference Centre near Stellenbosch in South Africa. The course will be organized by Garrad Hassan, an international renewable energy consultancy and hosted by the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies. Sponsorship was received through funding from the South African National Energy Research Institute (SANERI).
Dr. Cruz edited the book Ocean Wave Energy - Current Status and Future Perspectives, and will be speaking on such subjects as: Wave Energy Fundamentals, Characterisation of the Wave Energy Resource, Hydrodynamic Modelling of the Wave Energy Converters, Power Conversion Mechanisms, Full-Scale Concepts, R&D Roadmap, and Future Perspectives and Alternative Applications.
The course is open to the general public and anyone with a genuine interest in wave conversion technology is encouraged to attend. The training session is aimed at equipping engineers, managers, and investors with the necessary tools to utilize new developments and technologies in the renewable energy industry.
The one day course costs R 3 000 (VAT Incl.) per attendee and provides for notes, beverages and lunch. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to register early as there is limited space available!
