Wind energy project suffers cutbacks
Posted on: June 4th, 2008 by Emma YoungA wind energy project in Purbeck which has been mired in controversy will now see the number of wind energy turbines reduced from the planned 6 to 3. This was disclosed by Alan Davies the planning officer of the district council during a monthly meeting held by the planning board.
The planning officer revealed to the councillors there was a lot of ground to cover before the project could be presented to them. The planning officer added that they had received a letter from the people who had put in the application in which they were requesting to be allowed to decrease the number of wind energy turbines from six to three.
Mr. Davies disclosed that the planners were looking into whether the way to go about it was to amend the original application which had been submitted or whether a completely fresh start was what was required for submission to the district council. The planning officer promised that they would consult on the issue before talking to the applicants and the planning board.
The chairman of the planning board, councillor Peter Wharf predicted that consultations on the application would take a long time and members of the public would be expected to contribute to the debate.
In case the public interest turned out to be huge, the chairman of the planning board said that it would necessitate a special meeting of the planning board to focus on the matter. It would also necessitate arrangements being made for a special meeting venue.
