RWE nPower Domestic Energy

RWE npower is a UK electricity supplier which was established in 2000 under the Innogy brand-name. It became RWE npower in 2002 and now employs more than 11,500 UK employees. RWE npower partly owns Telecom Plus, which manages much of npower’s administrative side, such as metering, billing and customer service.
In addition to gas and electricity supply, npower also offers a range of boiler services and home insulation provision. RWE npower’s central-heating care packages are most competitive, including annual services and engineer call-outs in case of breakdown. Meanwhile, npower’s wireless thermostats allow customers to closely manage their fuel consumption.

RWE npower’s standard tariffs are the best-known rates, but several others are readily available. Online tariffs not only offer convenience of managing an account online, but offer their own competitive rates. Partnership tariffs allow customers to obtain special deals with npower’s partners, such as the National Trust, while ‘green’ tariffs cater to those who are thinking about more than just saving money.
RWE nPower History
Npower has been serving UK customers since 2000, when Innogy plc was formed from the demerged UK operations of National Power. The company bought and sold Yorkshire Electricity in the early part of the 21st century and acquired the electricity customer base from Northern Electric. Innogy was bought by the German-based RWE in 2002.
RWE branded its electricity supply services ‘npower’ in 2002, which now supplies more than 6.5 million UK customers with gas and electricity. Its supply comes from a number of power stations across the UK, which are fired by oil, gas, coal and renewable energy. The company remains dedicated to renewable energy, but 81 per cent of output is still provided by non rewewable coal and gas.
